WE KNOW THAT VISITING A NEW CHURCH CAN BE INTIMIDATING
What should I wear? Where do my kids go? We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel right at home when you visit. Mount Vernon is a place where people can meet Jesus, engage in life-giving community, and everyone is welcome. We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for God's glory!
SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES
We have 2 Sunday morning worship services:
9:00 am is our Traditional Service in the Sanctuary
11:00 am is our Energized Worship Service in the Family Life Center (larger brick building)
WHAT TO EXPECT
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
When you arrive at Mount Vernon, you’ll be greeted by a friendly smile from one of our hosts. Please let us know if this is your first time visiting! We suggest you get here a few minutes early to find a seat you like and get settled in. There will be complimentary coffee for you to enjoy. You can check your kids into our kids’ ministry, Lighthouse Kids located in our Nursery.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
Our Lighthouse Kids Children's Ministry is designed to help children learn about Jesus, meet new friends and have fun. Our loving children's ministry staff are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and entertaining atmosphere for all infants to 5th-grade children. Lighthouse Kids is located in The Nursery and is available for both Sunday services as well as during Bible Study from 10 am to 10:50 am.
WHAT IS THE SERVICE LIKE?
We usually start our services with a time of praise and worship. Once worship is over, we will share a few announcements about what’s happening around our church and share weekly prayer requests. We’ll then continue our worship through an offering, which flows right into the weekend message. Most weekends, our Lead Pastor Tac Coley will preach. Often, our services close with a brief time to respond to God in both worship and prayer, followed by the host again for any final announcements. Our service usually lasts for one hour.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Dress is casual and varied at our church. You’ll see guys in dress shirts and pants, to jeans or shorts. It’s the same variety for the ladies. From dresses, slacks, skirts, or jeans. We’re more interested that you’re here than what you wear.
